Palm Royale is loosely based on the novel "Mr. & Mrs. American Pie," and follows Maxine Dellacorte Simmons, who finds herself living in Palm Beach in 1969 due to the illness of her husband’s Aunt Norma. Maxine becomes intent on joining the ranks of the town's high society. Allison’s character is named Evelyn Rollins and she is described in various summaries as “elite”, “snooty” and as the “de facto ruler of the club’s wealthy lady clique.” Carol Burnett, Kristen Wiig, Ricky Martin, and Laura Dern will also be players in the story, which is said to start out “as a bit of a frolic” that becomes darker as the story progresses. The series was shot in and around Los Angeles during the second half of 2022 with numerous episodes directed by one of Allison’s longtime collaborators, Tate Taylor.
