Allison made her Oscars debut at the 90th Academy Awards on March 4, 2018 after a long awards season that built anticipation with every passing week. Winning award after award starting in early January at the Golden Globes, expectations on Allison were high to take home the grand prize.
Dressed in a custom red Reem Acra gown styled by Tara Swennen with a Roger Vivier clutch and over 125 carats of Forevermark Diamonds, Allison immediately shot to the top of the night’s best dressed lists.
Allison won Best Supporting Actress over her friend Octavia Spencer (“Shape of Water”); Mary J. Blige (“Mudbound”), Laurie Metcalf (“Lady Bird”), and Leslie Manville (“Phantom Thread”). As per tradition, the award was presented to Allison by Mahershala Ali, the previous year’s Best Supporting Actor winner.
